Rob Morris

Rob Morris is a high school teacher and military historian who lives in Idaho Falls, Idaho. His first book, 'Untold Valor: Forgotten Stories of American Bomber Crewmen over Europe in World War II' (Potomac, 2006), is in its fifth printing and remains a popular book in the genre. Morris co-wrote 'Combat Bombardier' in 2007 with 95th Bomb Group bombardier Leonard Herman. In 2012, his group-commissioned official history of the WWII 95th Bomb Group, 'Wild Blue Yonder and Beyond', was published by Potomac Books (now a part of the University of Nebraska Press).

In 2013, 'Untold Valor: World War Two in the Pacific' (Fonthill); 'The Battle of Gettysburg' (Instinctive); 'Presidents of the United States' (Instinctive); and 'The Civil War Chronicles (Instinctive) were all published.

In 2014, Morris released 'Marinell' about a 339th Fighter Group P-51 Mustang . He then revised and expanded the original edition of Dan Culler's classic POW memoir 'Black Hole of Wauwilermoos' , giving it the new title, "Prisoner of the Swiss: A WWII Airman's Story". In September 2014 he published his first novel, 'I'll Be Seeing You' about the air war over Europe in World War Two.

In 2016 he spent the summer ghost-writing the memoirs of legendary 18-year NFL lineman Ron "The Dancing Bear" McDole. More than a memoir, the book will paint a word portrait of what it was like to play in the Golden Age of both the AFL and the NFL. Morris also had a story published in the August 2016 issue of World War II History Magazine, about an Amphibious Engineer who landed on D-Day.

In 2017, the memoir of Swiss hell camp prisoner Dan Culler was picked up by Casemate Publishing for a November 2017 release. Morris edited Culler's book, with Mr. Culler's approval and oversight, and added much new material. Morris also wrote two short pieces for a publisher in the UK for a Christmas release in all the UK's W.H. Smith's Bookstores. One is about Prince Charles, the other about the Holocaust in Eastern Europe. Prisoner of the Swiss was released in late 2017 to good reviews.

In June 2017, "The Dancing Bear: Tales of Eighteen Years in the Trenches of the AFL and NFL" was picked up by the University of Nebraska Press for publication. This is the memoir of Ron McDole, standout defensive end on the Bills and Redskins in the 60s and 70s. Morris wrote and researched the book with his childhood hero.

Morris has also written numerous magazine articles for World War Two Magazine, Idaho Falls Magazine, and Dispatches: The Magazine of the Military Writers of America. He is the Grand Prize winner of the 2013 'A Novel Approach' Writing Contest sponsored by the Military Writers of America and writer Jack Woodville London. Morris contributed to the book '501 Jazz Greats'. He is a pilot, is married to Amber Morris, and between them they have 11 children and 10 grandchildren.
