Rita Cantrell Schellenberg

Dr. Rita Schellenberg is full professor in the school counseling program at Liberty University in Virginia, where she has also served as both online chair and program director for the M.Ed. in School Counseling program. Dr. Schellenberg is actively involved in numerous professional counseling associations and she has held a variety of leadership roles to include School Counseling Representative for the Virginia Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, Positions Statement Reviewer for the American School Counselor Association, Awards Reviewer for the Southern Association of Counselor Education and Supervision, and Research Chair for the Virginia School Counselor Association. Dr. Schellenberg received her training in school counseling from the College of William & Mary in Virginia. She was named outstanding graduate in her PhD program in counselor education and supervision program completed at Regent University. She is a licensed professional counselor, licensed professional counselor supervisor, and licensed PK-12 school counselor. She also holds the credentials of National Certified Counselor, National Certified School Counselor, Approved Clinical Supervisor, and Clinical Mental Health Counselor. Dr. Schellenberg is also an ASCA certified School Counseling Legal and Ethical Specialist and a Bully Prevention Specialist.

Dr. Schellenberg is well-published and presents at numerous conferences across the country on topics related to the contemporary practice of school counseling. With over a decade of experience as an elementary and secondary school counselor, she has been recognized at the local and national levels for her contributions in education, counseling, and specifically school counseling and counselor education.
