Heather Willms

Heather owns Hopscotch Quilt Shop in Coaldale, Alberta together with her daughter Elissa. Besides owning and running the shop together, the two are a dynamic design team, each working in their own color palette. Heather loves a dark, primitive look and enjoys working with homespuns and deep country colors. She loves hand work, wool applique and projects which blend embroidery with quilting.

Heather and Elissa's first book, "Christmas Quilts From Hopscotch" was published in the summer of 2008. Their second book, "Double Take: Quilts With That Hopscotch Twist" will be available in March 2010. "Double Take" is a collection of projects that starts with one idea and then is taken in different directions by each designer.

When not quilting and working in the shop, Heather teaches music to grades 1-5 students at a local elementary school. She loves to read and is a member of the Rocky Mountain Book Award selection committee. The committee selects 20 books annually for this Alberta Children's Choice Award.

Heather and her husband Lorne have two children; Ollie and Elissa. Lorne and Heather enjoy traveling together, hiking and going for coffee and a walk with their dog Chloe!
