Cathie E. West

Cathie E. West has an MS Education Degree and forty-three years of experience as an educator--thirty-six of these as a school administrator. Professional responsibilities have included teaching at the college level, directing special programs, and coordinating curriculum and staff development. Cathie received the Washington Distinguished Principal Award in 1998 and 2005 and the Leadership for Student Achievement Award in 2009. In 2010, Mountain Way--a school Cathie led for eleven years--was designated a School of Distinction. Other activities have included serving as an editorial advisor for the National Association of Elementary School Principals (2002-05), Washington State Kappan (2007-13), and the Association of Washington School Principals (2011-13). In addition to books, Cathie's writing has appeared in variety of popular professional publications.
