Gary E. Myers

Gary Elsworth Myers was born in Milwaukee and began playing his brother's drums at the age of nine. After a family move, he completed high school in Bradenton, Florida, joining his first band immediately after graduation. A second band included guitarist Dickie Betts, who went on to fame and fortune with the Allman Brothers.

Gary learned his first bass notes and guitar chords while gigging on the road in 1962 in the Midwest. He got his first guitar in 1964 and began figuring out the songs the band was learning. Subsequent studies included Berklee School of Music (correspondence course), Cerritos Junior College (Norwalk, CA), and over 50 years of playing music professionally. Besides drums, he has performed on guitar, bass, vibes, keyboard, piano and vocals. He has backed name artists ranging from Chuck Berry to Jerry Van Dyke and worked with well-known studio guitarists Larry Carlton and Jay Graydon.
