I realised I wanted to be on the side of consumers early in my career as a result of five years working in the City of London. So began a long association with Which?, where for a time I was head of the money research group and, over many more years, author of numerous books about personal finance. As a freelance financial researcher, journalist and author, and latterly in my work as Senior Lecturer in Economics and Personal Finance at The Open University, my aim is to champion and empower consumers. As the financial services industry becomes increasingly complex and the State less supportive, it can feel like a battlefield out there and I hope my books give you the winning edge.
