Alison Bruce is an award-nominated crime author based in Cambridge. Her first novel, Cambridge Blue, was described by Publishers’ Weekly as an ‘assured debut’ and introduced detective Gary Goodhew. The series of seven books earned critical acclaim for their psychological depth and authentic portrayal of police work. She has also written two non-fiction crime books, including Cambridgeshire Murders, and two standalone crime novels, I Did It for Us and The Moment Before Impact.
Her subsequent work features DS Ronnie Blake. The first in the series, Because She Looked Away continues her exploration of morality, truth, and the human cost of crime. The follow-up novel, Crash and Burn (September 2026), tackles the impact of an unsolved crime on the surviving victim.
Alison’s work has been shortlisted for two CWA Daggers and featured across major media platforms, including BBC Radio and ITV’s Genius Game. Alison has taught creative writing for Cambridge University and Anglia Ruskin University.
