Kim Smith

Kim Smith lives in Gloucester, Massachusetts with her husband, Tom, and their children, Liv and Alex, in their home up from the harbor and surrounded by their well-lived-in garden. Kim writes and photographs a column on garden design, with a focus on planting native flora to attract native fauna, and designs butterfly and songbird gardens for private clients and public institutions. She teaches a class on habitat gardening at the Arnold Arboretum and lectures frequently. Following the success of her first photo journal exhibit, Kim is the recipient of a Massachusetts Cultural Council award for a second photo journal exhibit titled Beauty of the Wing ~ Life Story of the Monarch Butterfly. Oh Garden of Fresh Possibilities!, her first book, combines her love for horticulture, writing, painting, and poetry. Kim is currently writing and illustrating a children’s book about butterflies and working on the sequel to Oh Garden!
