William H. Venema’s legal career spans over thirty-five years and includes time in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps, in international law firms, and as General Counsel in major corporations.
Death in Panama is his debut novel. It’s loosely based on events surrounding a court-martial case he prosecuted in 1983, when he was assigned as an Army lawyer in Panama.
Dawn in Dallas, set in the late 1980s, is the sequel to Death in Panama. It follows the journey of Robert Clark as he leaves the Army and joins a prestigious Dallas law firm, only to find that things are not what he hoped they would be.
Bill is a Distinguished Graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, where he was awarded the Thomas J. Thompson Memorial Award, at the time the only award for writing at the Academy. He also earned an MBA from Georgia State University and a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law.
Prior to entering private practice, Bill served in the U.S. Army in Germany, Panama, and several stateside assignments. He is a graduate of the Army’s Airborne and Ranger schools, as well as the Command and General Staff College.
Bill and his wife live in Georgetown, Texas.
