Matt Gaffney's crossword puzzles have appeared in Billboard, the Chicago Tribune, the Daily Beast, Games magazine, New York magazine, The New York Times, Newsday, the Onion, Slate, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, Washingtonian magazine, and Wine Spectator. He's written more than a dozen crossword puzzle books for adults and the 2006 narrative book Gridlock: Crossword Puzzles and the Mad Geniuses Who Create Them. He's also the author of the Complete Idiot's Guide to Crossword Puzzles & Word Games (2005).

Gaffney lives in Staunton, VA.
