Michael Barley

Michael was born in England, and his family came to Canada in 1948.

He is an architect, and has always enjoyed writing. His first major publication, 'Jackal Bird', was in 1984. Published books also include the science fiction novel 'Northline', the collection 'Seven Days In December', a group effort - Barley was one of four co-authors. 'JB' was published by Tesseracts, out of Edmonton, Canada. 'Northline' and 'Seven Days' were published by Imago Press, from Tucson, Arizona. E-books of all the above, also from Imago Press, are available from the Amazon site.

Most of his books are author-illustrated.

Northline' is essentially a dystopian novel about a unique type of train. This book was dedicated to his father who has just become a centenarian-plus-one. It was his father Les who encouraged Michael's interest in railways when he was a child.

Barley also writes reviews, essays, poetry, and short stories as 'M. David Barley', a few of which appear on this site.

He and his wife have several children and numerous grandchildren, with one more currently on the way.

He is currently working on sequels to 'Jackal Bird' and a collection of short pieces that may be published later this year.
