Fiona Slevin grew up and went to school in Mohill, Co Leitrim. Throughout her career in business, she maintained an interest in history, especially that of Mohill and south Leitrim in the nineteenth century. Over the years, she published a number of books and articles about local history and heritage. In 2024, she completed a PhD in history. Her thesis uses Mohill as the focus of a microstudy on the market dynamics that drove societal and economic development in rural Ireland after the Famine of the late 1840s.
