Charlsie Russell

I am a graduate of the University of Mississippi and a retired United States Navy Commander turned author. I love reading, history, and the South. I focus my writing on historical fiction set in my home state of Mississippi. I am decidedly and unapologetically pro-Southern.

After seven years of rejection, I woke up one morning and decided I did not have enough years left on this planet to sit back and hope a New York publisher would one day take a risk on my novels. Thus resolved, I expanded my horizons into the publishing realm with the creation of Loblolly Writer’s House. Four years after the first printed copies of The Devil’s Bastard hit the bookstore shelves, I expanded my formats to include the growing digital markets.

In addition to writing and publishing, I am married and have raised five children. I am now a grandmother several times over. I live with their father/grandfather on my granddaddy's farm in Simpson County, Mississippi.
