Judith Scott

Judith Scott grew up in the Midwest and moved to Maryland with her husband Greg directly after graduating from Indiana University in 1989 with a degree in English Education. She taught high school English for 6 years before the birth of her first child, Emily. Emily was diagnosed at the age of 3 months with the extremely rare chromosomal syndrome, Partial Trisomy 13. At the time of diagnosis, there were only 50 documented cases of this syndrome worldwide. Judith and her husband were told their daughter might never walk, talk, or read. Out Came the Sun: A Family's Triumph Over a Rare Genetic Syndrome, is a memoir of the journey Judith and her family take with Emily.

In addition to writing this book, Judith has also written articles for magazines and newspapers. In her "spare" time she is also a distance runner and an avid reader. She and her husband live in suburban Maryland and have 2 other children.
