Jordan Horowitz grew up in New York and Chicago before finally settling in Southern California. He attended Northwestern University and Claremont Graduate School as his career slowly took form. Originally a therapist in a child and adolescent community mental health center, he decided the systems youth deal with were more interesting than the kids, themselves. So he moved from counseling psychology to applied social psychology, where he gained experience and expertise in evaluation research. After working 18 years at WestEd evaluating educational and social programs for youth, he joined his graduate school friend Brad Phillips at the Institute for Evidence-Based Change (IEBC).
Jordan's professional interests include improving data use in education, improving student postsecondary success, evaluation, and social justice. Currently, many of these come together as he implements IEBC's Caring Campuses around the country. His personal interests include reading, caring for the environment, progressive causes, travel, and gardening. He lives in southern California in a very, very, very fine house with two cats in the yard and his husband.
