Laurie Alberts

I live off the grid in Vermont and am the author of four novels (A Well-Made Bed, co-authored with Abby Frucht, forthcoming March 1, Tempting Fate, The Price of Land in Shelby, and Lost Daughters), two memoirs (Fault Line and Between Revolutions: An American Romance with Russia), a story collection (Goodnight Silky Sullivan), and a book on the craft of writing (Showing & Telling). My work has received the Pirate's Alley Faulkner Award, the Hackney Literary Award, an American Fiction prize, and a James Michener Award. My prose has long been driven by obsessions. Commercial fishing in Alaska, life in Russia under tyranny, the lonely downfall of a former love each impelled my writing. A Well-Made Bed came from a different source - the pleasure of brain-storming, arguing, shaping, and revising with a collaborator whom I admire.
