David Tatham

David Tatham, author of seven books and more than ninety scholarly articles, exhibition catalog essays, and journal reviews concerning American art of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, is known especially for his studies of the work of the artist Winslow Homer. At Syracuse University Tatham has received the Chancellor’s Citation for Excellence in Academic Achievement, the Wasserstrom Award for Excellence in Graduate Teaching, the O’Leary Undergraduate Teaching Award, and the Post-Standard University Library Award. Several of his publications have won national or regional awards. Among his research and project grants are those from the National Endowment for the Humanities (7 awards), the American Philosophical Society (4 awards), the American Antiquarian Society, and the Archives of American Art. Of the numerous doctoral dissertations and master’s theses he has directed, eight have won Graduate School prizes.
