James Ayers was ordained as a Presbyterian minister in 1982, and has pastored churches in Kansas, Massachusetts, and Kentucky. He currently serves as Presbytery Administrator for the Presbytery of Southern Kansas. He earned an M.Div. from Gordon-Conwell Seminary, and also a Ph. D. in historical theology from Boston College, with a dissertation on John Chrysostom's Doctrine of Conversion.
He spends two or three weeks a year in Latin America, translating for various mission groups, and enjoys cooking and gardening. He has bicycled in 36 states. He and his wife Micaela have two grown children.
