Jessica A. Ritter

Greetings! I am a professor of Social Work at Metropolitan State University of Denver and am very lucky to have my dream job. It is incredibly gratifying to help prepare students to become professional social workers who are educated to be change agents in the world at both the micro and macro levels. Social workers pursue social justice in our society and often do not get the recognition they deserve for devoting themselves to a career of service to individuals, families, and communities.

I earned my bachelors, masters, and doctorate in Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin and have been a social work educator since 2006. Academically, my two labors of love are the two books I have written and published: "101 Careers in Social Work" and "Social Work Policy Practice: Changing our Community, Nation, and the World." "101 Careers" was written to enlighten people about how many careers paths one can pursue with a degree in social work. It is one of the most exciting things about this field! "Social Work Policy Practice" is focused on teaching social work students how to effect change in the legislative and/or political arena.

I hope you enjoy reading one, or both, of these books! I would love to hear from you.

Best,

Jessica Ritter, Ph.D.
