John W. Pearson

JOHN PEARSON, a management and board governance consultant, served 30 years as a nonprofit CEO, including 25 years as CEO of three national associations: Christian Management Association (now Christian Leadership Alliance), Willow Creek Association (now Global Leadership Network), and Christian Camp and Conference Association. He is co-author, with former ECFA President Dan Busby, of “Lessons from the Nonprofit Boardroom,” "More Lessons From the Nonprofit Boardroom," "ECFA Tools and Templates for Effective Board Governance," and "Lessons From the Church Boardroom." John is also the author of "Mastering the Management Buckets: 20 Critical Competencies for Leading Your Business or Nonprofit" and “Mastering the Management Buckets Workbook." He is the co-author of "Marketing Your Ministry: Ten Critical Principles" with Dr. Robert Hisrich. As the editor and publisher of "Your Weekly Staff Meeting," a free eNewsletter that includes a book review and a "management buckets" commentary every issue, John has reviewed more than 500 leadership and management books since 2006. He was also the editorial coordinator for the "ECFA Governance Toolbox Series." His consulting firm, John Pearson Associates is based in San Clemente, Calif. His 2021 book, with Jason Pearson, was published in May 2021, "Mastering Mistake Making: My 25 Memorable Mistakes—and What I Learned (10 Minutes for Lifelong Learning Workbook)." His latest book, "Mastering 100 Must-Read Books: Brief Book Reviews on Leadership, Management, Governance, and Life," written with Jason Pearson, was published in September 2022.
