H. Lenora Byrd

Lenora Byrd served 21 years in the Army as a NCO for 4 years and as an officer for 17 years. She began her military career in the Women’s Army Corps (WAC) and despite the continuous trials and tribulations she experienced during her journey, she successfully retired as a Major, Military Police Officer (MP) in 1989. She graduated from California University of PA (CUP) with a BS in Social Work, a M.Ed. in Secondary Guidance Counseling and a certificate of completion in Multimedia Technology.

Lenora was a semi-professional softball player during her time in the Army and during her teenage years she became a jazz musician bass guitarist and vocalist. At the young age of 78, she is still performing; strumming her bass and singing and continues to write her life journey story.

Lenora has devised her autobiography into a "Once I Was" eBook series. EBooks Parts 1-2 portray her struggles and victories during her military career; Part 3 covers her experiences as a retired army officer adjusting to civilian life; and Part 4 expounds on her role as a caregiver with limited outlets. She is presently writing ongoing experiences during her golden years to be published in her "Now I Am" eBook series. Stay tuned because she is still writing at age 78.
