Al Tyas was born in Providence, Rhode Island. He earned a B.A. in history from Rhode Island College, and an M.A. in Military History from American Military University. His focus was Cold War nuclear studies.
As an undergrad he focused on early church history and the emergence of Christianity into the ancient world. His focus was the change from polytheism to monotheism, and how the society at the time coincided with early Biblical studies. This accompanied by a rich background in folklore and Old World tales, accompanied by unusual encounters led him on a journey to study various supernatural subjects.
Later, Tyas earned his Masters in Cold War studies with an emphasis on nuclear deterrence. He uses this information to present later interest in UFO's and "E.T.s" and how these occurrences presented themselves in both the United States and the Soviet Union. The results were astounding.
As a paranormal investigator, he investigated over 100 public businesses, historical landmarks and private homes within the DC Metro Area and beyond. He also appeared in various local newspapers, but usually as a token Halloween prop. After realizing the reality of interacting the supernatural, and how it affected himself and others, he retired from investigating hauntings in 2006. He lives in Northern Virginia.
