Walter Arthur McCray

Rev. Dr. Walter Arthur McCray is a "Gospelizer"-- a holistic "Good News messenger" of the resurrected LORD, Jesus Christ. He is a seasoned minister, author, national speaker, entrepreneur, and native Chicagoan.

Dr. McCray has served as the president of the National Black Evangelical Association (NBEA) since 1999. Through Black Light Fellowship, a publishing company founded with his wife Thelma, he has authored many books. Among his many titles are the best-selling The Black Presence in the Bible, and The Black Presence in the Bible and the Table of Nations (both 1990); Gospelizers! Terrorized and Intensified (2002); and his recent short story of change, adversity, courage, and hope, Black Cherry Rising (2008).

In his four decades of ministry (since 1969), Dr. McCray has pastored and served several churches across denominational lines, and has assisted a variety of community organizations. Recently, for a few years he and his wife operated a neighborhood food store on the west side of Chicago where they did gospelizing ministry for some of "the least of these"--the Jubilee Market.
