Morley Winograd

I started working on Healing American Democracy: Going Local right after the 2016 election to preserve my sanity, but I ended up working on it to preserve American democracy.

Writing it gave me the chance to work with two of my lifelong friends, Mike Hais and Doug Ross-- to think through the challenges facing America today and use our combined wisdom to come up with ideas on how to meet them. As such, it represents the culmination of my life’s quest to make our unique democracy a living example of how to maximize each individual’s God given potential in a peaceful, prosperous society.

I have also co-authored three books on Millennials with Mike Hais over the past decade. The books' predictions and pithy analyses got us gigs on (or in) The New York Times, The Today Show, CNN, USA Today, PBS NewsHour, NPR, Barron's, Forbes, Reuters and Univision.

In addition to my writing and speaking, I am a Senior Fellow at the University of Southern California's Annenberg School's Center on Communication Leadership and Policy. I also served as senior policy advisor to Vice President Al Gore and director of the National Partnership for Reinventing Government.
