I live in a barn with solar panels, on the old Edwards farm (which is how it will be referred to until my family dies, at which time it will, I betcha, become the old Scoates place), in the toe of the Appalachian range in north Georgia. I teach English to non-native English speakers; my students are one of the greatest delights of my life. I'm the author of five books of poems, with a sixth collection, One Light, forthcoming from Texas Review Press. My environmental memoir, Back to Abnormal, was Finalist for Georgia Author of the Year. I've also written a novel Jumping.
In October of 2017, I served as Artist-in-Residence for Everglades National Park.
