Gail Pool is a writer whose work has focused on criticism, the culture of magazines, and travel. Her essays, columns, and reviews have appeared in many publications, and her three books are "Lost Among the Baining: Adventure, Marriage, and Other Fieldwork," "Faint Praise: The Plight of Book Reviewing in America," and "Other People's Mail: An Anthology of Letter Stories." She lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and winters in Sanibel, Florida, where--when she isn't writing--she spends her time reading, gardening, or observing the magnificent wildlife.
