Steven LaChance is an author and researcher who has spent more than twenty five years studying hauntings, memory, and human experience across the United States and abroad. His work focuses on listening, context, and lived experience rather than spectacle or certainty.

Architecture of Shadows became the place where I stopped to look back at what twenty five years of work had actually taught me. Not just about hauntings, but about people, memory, fear, and the way certain experiences stay with us.

I do not offer answers. I do not believe definitive answers exist, and I do not believe anyone should tell you what to believe. What I can do is share what I have learned, what has held up over time, and what has quietly fallen apart when examined closely.

This book does not follow the paranormal party line. It reflects a quieter approach shaped by travel, listening, and working with people living through experiences they could not explain. Architecture of Shadows is about patterns, restraint, and respect for lived experience. It is an important book for me, and one I have lived with for a long time.
