Chris Brown

I am probably from the last generation to have an 'Imperial' childhood, moving around the world courtesy of my father's Royal Navy postings in England, Scotland,Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong - latterly trekking back and forth from military boarding school. I started studying for my Ph.D in Medieval History in November 2000. Before that I had been a nurse before spending 20 years working in concert management then stage lighting for Trade Shows, Opera, Ballet and Musicals, but mostly for Rock and Roll, Folk and Jazz bands...throughout that period I was also a single parent for virtually all the first 12 years of my child's life. I married in 1991 and have been annoyingly contented ever since. I have published 15 books on historical topics ranging from the later Middle Ages to World War Two.
