Christine A. Baker

Christine Baker is an author of fiction, non-fiction, and screenplays whose work celebrates hidden histories, women’s voices, and the deep bond between humans and animals.

Her forthcoming novel, Raising Artemis, is a sweeping story infused with magical realism and the natural world, exploring the transformative connections between people and the creatures who share their lives.

Baker’s earlier work includes Why She Plays: The World of Women’s Basketball (University of Nebraska Press, 2008), a groundbreaking exploration of the rise of women’s basketball and the athletes who redefined the game. Her journalism has also appeared widely, including a cover-story interview with WNBA legend Sue Bird in Curve Magazine.

As a screenwriter, Baker’s historical script Agent 355, about America’s first female spy, has been recognized in multiple competitions, and her feature Dear Emily was named a Top 10 project out of 10,000 entries in the Sundance Screenwriters Lab before being acquired by M.Y.R.A. Entertainment.

She holds a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from Wesleyan University, where she received the Rulewater Prize, and she was a finalist for the Billie Award in Journalism.
