Brian McIlroy

Brian McIlroy is Professor of Film Studies at the University of British Columbia in Canada. He was born (in 1959) and was educated in Northern Ireland before attending universities in England and Canada. He has been teaching Film Studies at UBC since 1989. His main book publications have focused on Irish Cinema: "Irish Cinema: An Illustrated History" (1988) [reissued as "World Cinema 4: Ireland" in 1989], "Shooting to Kill: Filmmaking and the Troubles in Northern Ireland" (1998, second edition 2001), and editor in 2007 of a collection of essays entitled, "Genre and Cinema: Ireland and Transnationalism."
