E. Denby Brandon

E. Denby Brandon, Jr., CFP, CLU, ChFC co-founded Brandon Organizations in 1952 with his father, E. Denby Brandon, Sr. Mr. Brandon, Jr. initiated its "Total Financial Planning" program in 1969, and then "The Brandon Global Investment Strategy." He was joined in the family owned firms by his two sons in 1982 and 1983. Mr. Brandon is also the Director of the Brandon Research and Development Organization.

He is an internationally known speaker and writer in various phases of financial planning. He was a member of the original Board of Governors of The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards in 1985. He was Chairman 1989-1990. He was Chairman of the CFP Board of Governors in 1990 when Australia became the first nation outside the United States to be approved to grant the CFP Marks. He was the first Chairman of the Board of Affiliated Associations (CFP Global Standard Setting Organizations) in 1992. He is a member of The Financial Planning Association. He earned the Certified Financial Planner degree from The College for Financial Planning in 1982. He is a Registered Principal with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (formerly NASD) through Brandon Investments, Inc. He holds the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Diploma in Agency Management designations from the American College. He was one of the leaders in establishing the Financial Planning History Center at Texas Tech University in 2005.

He is listed in The Marquis "Who's Who in the World," "Who's Who in America," and "Who's Who in Finance and Industry." In 1998, the International Biographical Centre of Cambridge, England, placed him on the Director General's Honours List for his "Contributions to Global Financial Planning." He was the 2007 recipient of the P. Kemp Fain, Jr. award, the top annual honor of the Financial Planning Association, the national membership organization of financial planning. He was inducted into the Robert E. Musto, Tennessee Insuance Hall of Fame at Middle Tennessee State University in 2009.

He received his Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors in Philosophy from what is now Rhodes College in Memphis in 1950, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He did graduate work at Yale and Duke Universities, receiving his Master of Arts degree in political science from Duke University in 1952.
