Nancy Isenberg

Nancy Isenberg is the author of Aristocracy, American Style (2026); White Trash: The 400-Year Untold History of Class in America (2016), a New York Times bestseller; Fallen Founder: The Life of Aaron Burr (2007), a finalist for the LA Times Book Prize in Biography; and Sex and Citizenship in Antebellum America (1998). She is the coauthor, with Andrew Burstein, of Madison and Jefferson (2010) and The Problem of Democracy (2019). She is the T. Harry Williams Professor of American History, Emeritus, at LSU. She lives in Virginia.
