Annie Weissman was born in New York City and reared in Teaneck, New Jersey. She graduated from University of Rochester, taught high school dropouts at The Griswold Institute in Cleveland, and earned her M.S.L.S. at Case Western Reserve University. She moved to Phoenix and worked as a public librarian, school librarian, principal, and university lecturer. She is the author of a memoir, As One Door Closes as well as seven books for teachers and librarians. She currently writes a blog, The Single Senior (www.thesinglesenior.wordpress.com) as well as a column of the same name for The Pinewood News.
