John Warner

John Warner was born in 1943 and raised on Tyneside, in the UK.

At the age of twelve he made the choice of being a pilot rather than an actor. At the same time, he had been encouraged by his school headmaster to write a book.

Leaving the Royal Air Force where he had been trained as an Air Signaller hunting Russian submarines, John trained at Bletchley Park and learned the full impact of electronic intelligence on world affairs. In 1966 he emigrated to Canada and took up flying again.

After accumulating over 24,000 hours of flying time and serving as an aviation manager for 20 years, John retired from flying. Classified by his family as a "retirement failure" he became an aviation consultant with a major oil company.

John's four published novels join with his first, (unpublished) and are founded mostly in history. Currently, he is working on three other novels after a hiatus while he built his own home. Each winter, he spends time in the Arizona desert where, away from distractions, he concocts more stories.

An unabashed workaholic, John enjoys writing, wine-making, climbing, hiking, camping, woodworking, history, cooking and skiing. One of the original recipients of the Duke of Edinburgh Award, he was honoured to receive the Silver and Gold Awards from His Royal Highness's hand in 1960. He also graduated with Honours from the Eskdale Outward Bound Mountain School in 1961, missing a Warden's Badge by "one push-up too few and one cuss word too many."

Golden Quest came in second in its genre with Premier Book Awards, then won first place in the Pinnacle Awards in the Thriller category. The screenplay has been requested by Hollywood producers.
