Fons Burger

Fons Burger (1952) is a Dutch journalist, author, publisher, musician, and entrepreneur whose work has long focused on one central question: how can we build a better future?

As a journalist, he reported from conflict zones in Central and South America and wrote about politics, inequality, culture, and social change. Later, as an entrepreneur and cultural innovator, he created projects that challenged convention and explored new ways of organizing society.

That same search runs through his recent books. In the novel *2125: The Hibernator*, Burger imagines a man from our time waking up a century later in a world that has radically changed the way people live, work, govern, produce food, use energy, and relate to the planet.

His nonfiction book *The Only Possible Solution: How to Shape the Future for Our Next Generations* explores the ideas behind that imagined future in the real world. Drawing on the work of scientists, economists, entrepreneurs, activists, philosophers, and other leading thinkers, Burger examines why crises such as climate change, inequality, food insecurity, declining health, and political polarization cannot be solved separately—and what is already being done differently around the world.

Together, *2125* and *The Only Possible Solution* approach the same question from two directions: one through fiction, the other through journalism and research.
