Luciano Simonelli is a journalist, a writer and, from 1995 he was a publisher.That year he founded Simonelli Editore Ltd, his publishing company, after a long experience in journalism, from 1970 to 1986, as editor, special correspondent around the world, literary critic of Domenica del Corriere (the weekly magazine of the newspaper Corriere della Sera), afterword he became senior editor for the italian edition of the Reader’s Digest monthly magazine and from 1993 he was the General and Editorial Director of the Rusconi Editore Books Area (three brands: Rusconi Libri, Idealibri, Euro Libri).
He founded his Simonelli Editore Ltd in 1995 which had a presence online from the beginning. And from the beginning the focus of his company was to produce eBooks, electronic books. He did it from 1997 when published the first one online, at that time in Pdf format, being in Italy a pioneer of the new publishing era in digital. But waiting the development of the eBook formats his company published 87 traditional books.
In 2004 created and developed the first italian platform online for selling eBooks and from 2008 published original electronic Books only. He had produced 1100, 53 Audiobooks and 83 Video. In April 2024 decided to close his publishing company because he condidered his mission to introduce digital into the book publishing concluded and he started a new season as journalist, writer, blogger, videomaker.
As writer, Luciano Simonelli is author of some literary essays and of two thrillers «Cento miliardi di dollari» [«One hundred billions of dollars»] and «I Sette Occhi della Vita» [«The Seven Eyes of the Life»]. For these novels the italian literary critics called him «the Italian Ken Follett».
He strongly think in the creative opportunities offered from the new technologies and, using them, he tests all the time new ways in telling.

Quell'anno ha infatti creato la Simonelli Editore dopo essere stato dal 1970 in poi prima redattore, inviato speciale e responsabile delle pagine culturali de «La Domenica del Corriere», quindi Capo Servizio del mensile «Selezione dal Reader's Digest» infine Direttore Generale ed Editoriale dell'Area Libri della Rusconi (Rusconi Libri, Idealibri, Eurolibri).
La sua Simonelli Editore è stata online dalla sua creazione ed ha prodotto 87 titoli per la libreria prima di passare completamente all'editoria digitale dopo aver creato nel 2004 la prima piattaforma di vendita di eBook in Italia.
Nell'Aprile 2024 ha infine deciso di chiudere la sua casa editrice condiderando ormai conclusa la sua missione che era stata quella di portare il digitale nell'editoria italiana dei libri dopo aver prodotto 1100 file di eBook, 53 Audiolibri e 87 Video. Ora quindi è tornato al giornalismo, a scrivere saggi e romanzi, a produrre video e format tv.
Come scrittore, oltre ad una intensa produzione saggistica ha pubblicato con successo due thriller per i quali venne a suo tempo definito il Ken Follet italiano: «Cento miliardi di dollari» e «I Sette Occhi della Vita».
Innamorato delle opportunità creative che offrono le nuove tecnologie Luciano Simonelli è un costante sperimentatore di nuovi modi di comunicare e narrare.
