Chris Kraus, born in 1963, is a writer, screenwriter, and filmmaker. His internationally successful films, including The Bloom of Yesterday and Four Minutes, have won numerous awards, including seven German Lola Awards and ten Bavarian Film Awards. As a novelist, Chris Kraus has published four books to date. His literary breakthrough came with the award-winning family epic The Bastard Factory (2017), which has been translated into many languages and became a bestseller, especially in France and Spain. His works are characterized by empathetic character development, socially critical depth, and an exceptional, evocative writing style that leaves a lasting impression on readers. His highly anticipated new book, Sun and Moon (Die Sonne und Die Mond), published by Diogenes, will be released in August 2025. Chris Kraus lives and works in Berlin.
