John La Galite

JOHN LA GALITE (his real name being JEAN MICHEL SAKKA) was born in Carthage (Tunisia, North Africa). After highschool, he left Tunisia for Paris to study at the Faculty of Science, where he obtained his PHD in Biochemistry. In 1998, he moved to the U.S, had various jobs, and finally dedicated his time to writing.

PLON, the prestigious French publisher, published his first novel, "Le lézard vert", a manuscript rejected by 23 publishing houses. The MIAMI HERALD awarded him a two page article.

John has published 14 novels since with PLON under the pen name John La Galite, Jean Michel Sakka and Paul Bëck. The most acclaimed of his novels was "Zacharie", which won the Grand Prix RTL-Lire.

John was in Thailand in 2004 when the tsunami happened, ravaging the Andaman Sea islands. A traumatic experience, which he incorporates in two of his books, "L'oeil vert de l'éléphant " and "L'Ange Gardien.

We find him on the border between Myanmar and Thailand, to Mae Sot where he participates in the integration of the Karen refugees.

He now divides his time between a small town on the banks of the Mekong river and Los Angeles where his daughter lives.
