Robert B. Boeder

I've always loved books. Ever since I read Hugh Lofting's Dr. Doolittle books in elementary school I couldn't get enough of reading. Adventure, excitement, sex - you name it, I got it from books. I read through high school and continued as an English major at the University of Minnesota. In the Peace Corps in Africa we had a book locker full of classics, history, poetry. That book locker got me through some difficult times. Following the Peace Corps I spent a year in Morocco. Saved again by the British Council Library. Armed with a PhD in history from Michigan State University I began writing books of my own, but they were academic studies. I yearned to tell my own tales of adventure, excitement, and yes, sex. I began with two non-fiction books about long distance trail running, experimenting with description, dialogue, building suspense - the elements of fiction. Finally, I had enough confidence in my imagination and my grasp of the tools I needed to write a novel of my own. With help from an excellent editor I made it. I published my first novel, The Chinese Laundry, and now three more, but I'm still reading. Still can't get enough of books. I'm on LinkedIn.
