Ivan Morris

Ivan Morris Bio

Ivan Morris has been a single-digit, category one golfer for over fifty years. He has competed all over the world in countless national and regional amateur championships. There have been days when great heights were soared and other times that he felt harshly treated by the fates. Despite the ups and downs, he has always loved the game and has studied it deeply in the hope of eventually cracking the code. Along the way, an encyclopaedic knowledge of the game by any standards has been amassed.

Voted Golf Nut of the Year by the Golf Nut Society of America in 2002 (the first non-American to receive the dubious accolade), on the strength of his first book - Only Golf Spoken Here (2001), Ivan is also the author of The Life of O’Reilly (2002) and The Doonbeg Ghosts (2006). Morris also co-authored Larry Lambrecht’s magnificent photographic coffee table book on Irish seaside golf, Emerald Gems (2003) and has been a contibuting editor to Golf Digest Ireland since 2003 as well as having articles published in Great Britain, the USA, Denmark and Sweden. Ivan writes a weekly column in the Limerick Leader newspaper and was editor-at-large of the annual almanac, The Essential Golfer’s Guide - Ireland. His latest book, “Life As A Way Of Golf!” is due to be published in early 2012.

A member of Limerick, Lahinch, Ballybunion and Doonbeg Golf Clubs, Ivan lives in Limerick with his wife, the sainted Marie (also a keen golfer.) They have three adult children. Before retiring from business in 2005, Ivan worked in the printing industry for 41-years. He is a member of the Irish Golf Writers Association and the European Golf & Travel Media Association.
