Chris is a playwright, an author, a teacher, an actor and a social entrepreneur. He rarely does things the conventional way. He achieved post-graduate (equivalent) qualifications before he took his degree; ran theatre workshops in two eastern European countries despite never having acted in his life – and gives his earnings to the Multiple Sclerosis Society via his justgiving page: http://www.justgiving.com/chris-sivewright
This unconventional approach tends to cause one of two reactions: respect and support OR loathing and contempt. In the 1990s he caused an uproar when his students started – and finished – an A level course in just four hours and passed with a respectable grade. (Business Studies). He did not endear himself to the teaching profession with newspaper interviews saying Business Studies was ‘a doddle’ (Observer) and ‘a con’ (BBC). His pupils called him ‘Super Sir’ (The Sun) and ‘Britain’s richest teacher (The Telegraph) and, it was rumoured, the A level syllabus was changed because of the scorn being heaped on it.
Chris has written many many books aimed in particular at the AS/A2 market. Buyers should expect an unusual approach, often very original and always controversial. What they will also get, though, is the voice of experience (his career has included over 90,000 hours of direct contact) that has lead to many student successes.
The books are all ebooks (easier to update) and the price is deliberately very low to encourage wider readership.
Apart from teaching, Chris has run business seminars, seminars for teachers and for several years ran a one-man conference service (all fees to charity).
In 2012 Chris formed Almost Random Theatre and this diversifying of interests has lead to a change of writing, with books on the theatre, cruises and personal transformation. These last categories are likely to be released in mid-summer, again as e-books. The theatre has performed in Poland, Wales and the Czech Republic and is currently offering services to schools – free of course.
