James Eke

James Eke started writing in his late teens as a journalist on his community newspaper. He studied journalism in college and went on to write for a number of newspapers and magazines across Canada.

He won a Dorothy Shoemaker award for poetry in the early 2000s and published the critically acclaimed novel, Falling Backwards in 2002.

Eke has also been involved in the martial arts since an early age and has black belts and teaching certifications in a number of styles and systems.

As a former full-time Army captain, he has now dedicated himself to training in and teaching martial arts that not only change lives but are functional and exciting.

His focus is on Jeet Kune Do, Kali, Silat, Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Eke is the owner and chief instructor of the Eke Academy of Martial Arts in Victoria, BC, Canada.
