I come from corn country in rural Indiana and now live in Atlanta (since 1979). I decided to try my hand at book writing because I bought a best-selling paperback at an airport store in 1992, and it was so bad I figured the world must be hurting for authors. Little did I know there are so many great, unpublished writers out there.

"IncrediBoy" was my third try at a full-length novel, my second try to sell one, and it sold in 2000 to a small publisher in Ohio, which went out of business in 2003. In late 2004, at the urging of another publisher, I started ThomasMax Publishing with the sole purpose of bringing back IncrediBoy. Little did I know that I was opening the door to Pandora's Box, that publishing would take away my writing time. I'm not complaining; I love the publishing business. incrediboy.com promotes the book; thomasmax.com promotes the publishing company.

I still plan to finish the sequel to IncrediBoy (the first chapter is included in the e-book version of IncrediBoy: Be Careful What You Wish, which isn't yet available on Kindle but should be soon) along with a couple of other novels, including a Christian horror tale which will be titled "Damned If I Do."

I'm a huge Atlanta Braves fan and, being from Indiana University, love IU basketball. I also enjoy watching football but really have no passionate ties to any team (although being from Atlanta I do cheer for the hometown teams -- the Falcons and Georgia Tech). I'm also active in the United Methodist Church as lay leader for my church and a certified lay speaker.

In my younger years I traveled extensively all over the U.S. and in Europe and Asia. With all the hoopla at airports since 9/11 I'm a lot less enthusiastic about traveling these days.
