I grew up Pennsylvania Dutch Mennonite, and while taking graduate literature courses at Columbia University, I got inspired to write my first book about my heritage. I received an MFA at Sarah Lawrence College, which led to the publication of my modern memoir, Crazy Quilt: Pieces of a Mennonite Life.
Publishing Crazy Quilt led to speaking at places like Princeton, Yale School of Divinity, the American Association of University Women, and Barnes and Noble. I published my first novel, Mennonite on the Edge: An Unlikely Romance, in 2015 (Ragged Sky Press). Coaching individuals led to my book, Divine Purpose: Find the Passion Within.
My stories also appear New Jersey Monthly, The Advocate, Ladybug as well in the collection, Just Moms: Conveying Justice in an Unjust World.
For the past several years, I've worked as an editor/coach for writers who want to develop their own narratives. I help non-fiction writers hone their craft and stay inspired.
