Multi award-winning and internationally published nonfiction and science fiction author, ontological theorist, poet, composer, recording artist and lyricist, virtuoso guitarist, YouTube TV executive producer and actor, expert on self-sustainable agricultural systems, and scholar on world religions, mysticism, and history, Sankara Saranam is the world’s foremost proponent of breath mastery and other yogic mental sciences dating back thousands of years.
Coupling his studies in philosophy with cosmology and physics, Sankara developed a theory of reality called the theory of self. This theory is fully explained in his non-fiction multi award-winning book, God Without Religion, now in its tenth-anniversary second edition, which deconstructs various religious and mystical traditions, exposing their basic principles and translating them into a more scientific approach to self-knowledge. According to Sankara, existence is, at bottom, awareness and the substance of reality is the expansion of the sense of self.
This theory stretches the boundaries of human imagination in his sci-fi tour de force, Permanent Waves, Volume I: Indriya. The autobiographical story of a mysterious ascetic whose memories date back twelve thousand years, the novel propels the reader five thousand years into the future and to the edge of the galaxy. This book is a must read for fans of mystery, science-fiction, thrillers, fantasy, mythology, mysticism, and epic adventures.
Sankara is also an international lecturer and pranayama workshop leader, giving classes on mind control, sense-introversion, and his theory of reality around the world. He has touched the lives of students and readers from over seventy countries for over twenty years.
Sankara graduated magna cum laude from Columbia University with a degree in Religion and a minor in Hebrew. He went on to earn his masters from St. John's College in Santa Fe in Eastern Philosophy and Religion with a minor in Sanskrit. He is also classically trained in the guitar at the Manhattan School of Music.
Sankara devoted his life to ending the divisiveness that goes hand in hand with centralized power, seeking ways to peacefully bridge the present to a future where women are empowered, outmoded social institutions no longer divide the human race, and the challenges facing present day humanity are addressed with sustainability and respect for the natural world in mind.
Today, he lives with his two children in southern New Mexico. In his free time, he likes to play ping pong and pool, swim, spend time with friends and visiting students, and has a weakness for fine whiskey and cigars. He created the self-sustainable community Whirlwind in the high Chihuahua desert where he trains students in pranayama.
The recently released Permanent Waves Series is a momentous shift into mythological fiction for Sankara’s readers and students; he is uniquely equipped to serve his audience as a tour guide in a universe both alien and yet clearly reminiscent. He transports readers to a mind-expanding future where women regain the power lost during the Dark Ages, material science is eclipsed by the power of the mind, and humanity is finally introduced to a galactic tribunal.
