John Murray

Born in a pit village in West Cumbria, I went to Oxford University where I read Sanskrit, and afterwards researched Ayurvedic Indian medical manuscripts at the Wellcome Institute, London. Later back in Cumbria I founded and edited Panurge fiction magazine alongside Skellig author David Almond. I published 10 novels between 1985 and 2009, won the Dylan Thomas Award for short stories in 1988, and was longlisted for the Booker with Jazz Etc in 2003. A few years after my wife Annie died, I left Cumbria and moved here to the beautiful Greek island of Kythnos where I write a blog called Wild Days in Greece. The Lawless Book of Love is my first novel on Kindle. I love jazz, opera, hiking and world cinema
