Martin Stanley

Martin was a senior UK civil servant working in the Cabinet Office and in the business departments where he was Principal Private Secretary. He was Chief Executive of the Better Regulation Executive, the postal industry regulator Postcomm, and the Competition Commission.

He has a particular interest in helping new recruits and newly promoted colleagues understand how Whitehall works, and how best to work with ministers inside government, and with regulators and senior executives outside government.

His popular 'How to be a Civil Servant' has now been in print for over 20 years and is now in its fourth edition.
