Guy Sagi was born in Tucson, AZ, and spent most of his youth outdoors—camping, fishing, hiking, rock collecting and hunting—leading to his work for more than a decade with Search & Rescue. After growing tired of finding lost hikers, rescuing climbers and, unfortunately, recovering bodies, he convinced a local paper to include survival tips on its outdoor page. The editors agreed, on the condition he wrote the first installment, and that launched his career in outdoor writing and photography. Along the way he wrote “Fishing Arizona,” “Fishing Arizona II,” “Hunting Small Game in Arizona” and “The Year Santa Came Back,” his first picture book for young readers. He served as editor in chief of Safari Times for Safari Club International for ten years, spent another decade as editor in chief of several publications at the National Rifle Association, penned thousands of magazine and website articles and created nearly all the photographs used in their illustration.
