William Kerr

WILLIAM KERR

Kerr, whose naval career spanned 25 years of ship and shore commands, also served as liaison to the United States Congress on behalf of the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations (Logistics) as well as project sponsor for the Navy’s hospital ship acquisition program, resulting in activation and deployment of the USNS Comfort and USNS Mercy.

During those years, in particular his six years in the Pentagon, not only did he have the opportunity to develop and write programs and operational plans for the Department of the Navy, but for the Maritime Administration, the State Department, Readiness Subcommittees of the House and Senate Armed Services Committees and the Reagan White House. There were also articles written and published on behalf of the Navy for and by national, defense-related magazines.

He was the recipient of numerous awards including the Legion of Merit and the Navy Commendation Medal. Retiring at the rank of Captain before starting his writing career, Kerr is the author of the best-selling series of mystery/suspense novels featuring Matt Berkeley, former Navy Special Warfare officer and security expert in the field of archaeology

Originally from Mississippi and Florida, Kerr and his wife now live in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. In their “past life” as avid scuba divers, they’ve explored reefs and shipwrecks in the waters off Florida, Bermuda, the Bahamas and throughout the Caribbean. His experience and knowledge of the underwater world as well as his military background have been used to heighten the tension and excitement of his several “Matt Berkeley” novels.
