John Foreman

I'm 70 years old, retired, and have been interested in aviation from an early age - always wanted to fly with the RAF, but eyesight stopped that. I joined the Air Training Corps in the late 1950s and left in 1962 as Cadet Warrant Officer and also managed to achieve part of my dream by getting in about twenty solos in gliders, flying from the old Hendon airfield. I've now written quite a few books relating to the air war over Europe 1939-45 and am particularly interested in British and Luftwaffe fighter pilots. I'm married, 2 kids, divorced, remarried, 2 stepkids and now 6 grandkids too. My interests, apart from aviation, are music - played lead guitar in local bands from 1960 - mid 1980s - and slot car racing (one of the few things a guy of my age can do competitively)and finally driving. I have a BMW 5 series and do more miles now than I ever did before I had this car, because it's just so much fun.

My 'solo' books are:- (1.) The Battle of Britain: The Forgotten Months. (2.) Air War 1941: The Turning Point - 2 Vols (3.) Air War 1944: Over the Beaches. (4.) The Fighter Command War Diaries - 5 Vols. (6.) RAF Fighter Command Victory Claims - 3 Vols. 'Shared' books - (1.) The Me262 Combat Diary (with SE Harvey) (2.) Luftwaffe Nightfighter Claims (with Johannes Matthews) (3.) The Fledgling Eagles (with Chris Shores and several other guys). Currently, apart from that mentioned above, Johannes and I are completing "Jager! The Hunters" 4 Volumes containing biographies and victory listings of around 2,400 Luftwaffe fighter aces. I've been lucky enough to meet many of the RAF and German aces, now mostly passed away.
